Hitotsubashi ICS announces the new members of its Advisory Board

TOKYO, Japan – June 30, 2022:Hitotsubashi ICS (School of International Corporate Strategy, Hitotsubashi University Business School) announced today the formation of a new Advisory Board. The Advisory Board provides advice relating to curriculum design and delivery of the School's MBA, EMBA, DBA, and Executive Education programs.

 Hitotsubashi ICS is proud and honored to announce the Advisory Board’s three new members, who will begin serving a two-year term on July 1, 2022:

Kazuo IWANO is a Specially Appointed Professor at Tokyo Institute of Technology (Tokyo Tech), and the former Chief Digital Officer (CDO), Fellow, and Advisor at Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation (2017-2022). A widely published authority on digital transformation and entrepreneurship linking the computer sciences and business, Prof. Iwano brings both academic and practical expertise. We welcome his advice regarding effective ways to cultivate aspiring business leaders and apply research for practical uses.

Daisuke KAN is President of Cheerio Corporation, one of Japan’s leading beverage companies. He is also a member of the Board of Councilors at Okinawa Institute of Science and Technology Graduate University (OIST). As the third-generation leader of his family’s beverage company, Mr. Kan leads innovation in business activities that embrace diversity and social change, to enhance present and future lifestyles. Mr. Kan appreciates his MBA experience and actively supports next generation MBAs.

Shinya KATANOZAKA is the Representative Chairman of ANA Holdings Inc., and also the former Vice Chair of Keidanren (Japan Business Federation). Through his long career as a business leader of one of Japan’s best-known companies, Mr. Katanozaka stresses the importance of personnel development and Human Resources (HR) strategy as crucial elements for the sustainable operation of a business.

The Dean of Hitotsubashi ICS, Professor Emi Osono, is responsible for the establishment of the new Advisory Board. Professor Osono is grateful to the previous Advisory Board members, invited by the former Dean, Kazuo Ichijo: Mr. Yosuke Yagi, CEO of People First; and Professor Dominique Turpin, Dentsu Chaired Professor of Marketing and Dean of External Relations at IMD. (The term for these board members ended March 31, 2022.)

The launch of the new Advisory Board comes at an exciting time for the business school. Hitotsubashi ICS was awarded the AACSB accreditation in 2021. Moreover, Hitotsubashi ICS’s MBA program was ranked #1 in Japan(QS Global MBA Rankings 2022). Hitotsubashi ICS is dedicated to developing the next generation of business leaders for Japan and the world. The business school’s curriculum incorporates a global perspective and addresses today’s most pressing business issues: (1) climate change and sustainability; (2) disruption and opportunities created by digital technology; and (3) leading global teams, among others.
